Questions I get asked about Guernsey fishing trips
If your question isn't here, ring me on 07781 104356.
Before you book
I've never fished. Is it for me?
Yes. I'll show you how to bait up, when to drop and how to land a fish, and there's no charge for that. The evening trip is a great introduction to angling.
Can children come?
Yes. The 3-hour kids' trip is £40 a child and £50 an adult, with up to 2 children (15 and under) per adult. There are life jackets on board. If yours are very young, ring me first.
Can wheelchair users come aboard?
Visit Guernsey lists the boat as wheelchair accessible. Ring me before you book and we'll work out getting you aboard and what'll suit you.
Groups
Do I have to book the whole boat?
No. You can book a seat from £50 an adult, or have the whole boat for up to 8 from £450. Ring me to find dates with spaces.
Can I come on my own?
Yes. Book a seat on a shared trip, from £50 an adult, and you'll fish alongside the others. Ring me for dates with spaces left.
On the day
What should I bring?
Warm layers and a waterproof, non-slip shoes, sun cream, your food and drinks, and a bag (or two) for your catch. The bait, tea and coffee are on board, and there's a toilet. If you get seasick, take your tablets before you board.
Where do we meet, and what if I'm late?
Trips go from St Peter Port Harbour, and I'll tell you the exact spot when you book. For the full day you're expected no later than 07:45, and for the evening no later than 17:45. If you're running late, ring me on 07781 104356 straight away.
What if the weather is bad?
Where we fish depends on the weather and the tide, and we'll agree the plan before we set off. If you're worried about the forecast, ring me and we'll talk it over.
Fish & the rules
Can I keep the fish I catch?
Most of them, and I'll show you how to clean and cook them. Tope go back, and so does any bass caught from the boat, and any ray I tell you to return, such as small-eyed or undulate ray.
Wildlife trips
Will we see puffins and dolphins?
Seals are a regular sight, and the puffins are about in spring and early summer. Dolphins turn up on some trips, so I can't promise those.
